On Sunday 28/12/2025, His Excellency the Minister of Environment Water & Agriculture and Chairman of Administration, Eng. Abdulrhman Bin Abdulmohsin AlFadly, at His Office, has received the International Accreditation Certificates that have been obtained for Weqaa Center's laboratories: Riyadh, Al-Qassim, Eastern Region, Aseer, Jazan; in accordance with the International Standards ISO/IEC 17025 issued by Saudi Accreditation Center. This has come during meeting Weqaa Center President & CEO Eng. Aymen Al Ghamdi, Saudi Accreditation Center Executive Director Dr. Adel Alkeaid, and the Team Members who have worked on achieving the laboratory accreditation requirements. This integrated development journey, led by Weqaa Center, is as a culmination of quality level that is applied in its Laboratories. It is aiming to reach the international leader for the laboratory operations and tests as accredited laboratories in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is to achieve its strategies and objectives in order to promote the laboratory system, raise the operational and technical readiness, apply the international quality standards which enhance the accuracy of tests and reliable results in diagnosing diseases. It is to apply a unified quality system and unify the procedures and test methods. It is to implement specialized training programs, beside to the assessment processes, internal auditing, meeting the requirements of regulative and technical accreditation. Weqaa Center, through its laboratories in all over the Kingdom's Regions, is undertaking the pivotal role in managing samples received from quarantines, ports, survey sites, and the relevant sides. The samples are subjected to a series of organized procedures including: receiving, sorting, testing, and analysing in accordance with accredited protocols that ensure the validity of procedures and accuracy of results in order to support the prevention and control actions and early response. From his side, Weqaa Center President & CEO has appreciated the keenness and attention paid by His Excellency Eng. Abdulrhman Bin Abdulmohsin AlFadly toward developing the mechanism and works according to a future vision contributing to protect the animal and plant health in accordance with the One Health Approach. Eng. Aymen Al Ghamdi has emphasized, that the presence of His Excellency to receive the international accreditation certificates, is a clear evidence of His attention that encourage to continue in developing Weqaa Center and its laboratories in order to widen the scope of international accreditation and enhance the laboratories reference for diagnosing diseases to achieve the highest levels of quality and services. Al Ghamdi has illustrated that Weqaa Center, according to its strategies, is currently working to release an action plan to establish qualitative laboratories that cares about the animal and plant health. Additionally, continuing the accreditation journey for the other laboratories in different regions. Besides, establishing qualitative units to cover multitasks including disease vectors. The Center seeks to obtain the international accreditation for its laboratories in Provinces of Tabuk, Al Baha, Northern Border Region that reflects the continuous commitment in applying the highest quality standards and reliability of laboratory tests in order to enhance the laboratories reference internationally in the field of diagnosing the plant pests and animal diseases. This accreditation is an essential step toward solidifying Weqaa Center Laboratories' position as reference laboratories in this field and to be a stimulative start for a new stage of widening the scope of accreditation and integration with the relevant International Organizations.
