In cooperation with Near East Plant Protection Organization (NEPPO) and with the participation of the Ministry of Environment Water & Agriculture, Weqaa Center has organized a regional workshop to exchange experiences and applying knowledge in accordance with integrated management of plant pests' control between the specialists and farmers of Near East and North African; During the period of 18 to 20 January 2026. The workshop opening has witnessed the presence of Weqaa Center President & CEO Eng. Aymen Saad Al Ghamdi, The General Supervisor of Agriculture Department in Ministry of Environment Water & Agriculture Eng. Abdullah Al Hotan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of (NEPPO), and Chief Plant Sector Officer in Weqaa Center Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Qreji, the Executive Director of the Near East and North Africa Plant Protection Organization (NEPPO), Professor Mr. Benjamaa Mohamed Habib, and other panel of experts, specialists, farmers from countries of region. This workshop aims to promote experiences, exchange knowledge with different specialists and experts, discuss methods of enhancing efficiency of pests integrated management and developing its techniques, and recognize the most significant factors which support protecting the agricultural wealth and achieving food security; in accordance with the advanced methods and practices. Eng. Abdullah Al Hotan, at the opening of workshop, has illustrated that the scientific and professional meeting comes to ensure the Kingdom's keenness to support the agricultural sector, enhance the sustainable agriculture practices, raise efficiency of agricultural production which contributes to improving the products quality; in line with objectives of the Kingdom Vision 2030. Eng. Al Hotan has indicated that the pests integrated management is one the cornerstones to achieve balance between economic feasibility of production and environment protection. From his side, Dr. Mohammed Al Qreji has emphasized that organizing this workshop comes within the framework of the significant role undertaken by Weqaa Center to protect the plant wealth and enhance food security. Dr Al Qreji has also manifested that the workshop aims to transfer the applying knowledge, present the stories of success, suggest practical solutions to control pests and produce healthy and safe food. In turn, Mr. Benjamaa Mohamed Habib has indicated to the importance of cooperation between the organization and countries of region, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in order to ensure a coordinated work that can prevent and control the plant pests. He has praised the role undertaken by Weqaa Center in organizing this meeting which consolidates the relationship between both private and public sectors as a key player in the agricultural production. The workshop's agenda has addressed intensive scientific sessions that present the actuality of vegetables production inside greenhouses. Experts, from the Ministry of Environment Water & Agriculture and Weqaa Center, have participated in determining the general frameworks of pests integrated management methodology. The workshop also has witnessed a comprehensive presentation of experiments achieved by major agricultural companies from different countries of region. As well as experiments that have been achieved in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, Morrocco, Egypt, and Jordan; in order to provide the best practices in managing the crop pests. During the period of workshop, intensive technical topics are discussed including vegetables production inside the greenhouses, vegetable crops' pests management, field visits to model farms and dialogue sessions to exchange success experiencing between farmers; to come out with the recommendations that enhance the sustainability of natural resources and food security in the countries of region. This workshop reflects the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in spearheading efforts of different fields including protecting the agricultural wealth and enhancing food security that support sustainability of the agricultural sectors and development of integrated control technologies of plant pests. Actually, Weqaa Center seeks to enhance the sides of experiences exchange, ideas, and international and regional experiments in order to reflect the Kingdom's efforts and advance to achieve the national objectives which contribute to protecting the plant and animal wealth and exalting the achieved impact in the field of food security and its sustainability.
