Symptoms of Infestation  

Appearance of thin, winding mines on leaves, which gradually widen as the larva grows, eventually turning brown.  

Presence of feeding holes and oviposition punctures from the adult insect.  

Leaf drop in cases of severe infestation.  

Prevention and Control Mechanism
Using healthy seedlings free from leafminers.  
Using protective insect netting and double doors In greenhouses to prevent pest entry.  
Removing host weeds from greenhouses and/or farms.  
Continuous and regular crop inspection.  
Using yellow sticky ribbons and traps for pest monitoring and control.  
Intervening by using an approved pesticide when needed, while observing the pre-harvest interval.  
Certain types of natural enemies such as parasitic wasps (Diglyphus spp. and Dacnusa spp.) may be used.  
Removing agricultural residues after harvest season.  
Collecting and disposing of infested leaves by burying or burning.
