Infectious Bronchitis

Infectious Bronchitis is a contagious viral disease that affects only the upper respiratory tract in poultry, including both broilers and layers. In addition to respiratory symptoms, the disease can also cause kidney complications.

Infectious Bronchitis’ Modes of Transmission:

Inhalation of virus-contaminated air particles by birds.

Direct contact between infected and healthy birds within the same flock.

Consumption of feed or water contaminated with droppings from infected birds containing viral particles.

Prevention Measures:

Regular preventive vaccination.

Consistent application of biosecurity measures.

Avoiding the rearing of multi-age flocks within the same farm.

Implementing veterinary quarantine procedures and applying import controls for hatching eggs, live birds, and their products.

Conducting epidemiological surveillance and collecting appropriate samples regularly.

Following a preventive vaccination program in poultry farms using licensed live-attenuated and inactivated vaccines approved by Weqaa and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority.
