Lumpy Skin Disease  

Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) is a contagious viral disease primarily transmitted through insect bites. Symptoms include fever, the appearance of firm skin nodules, and swelling of superficial lymph nodes in animals.

Heat  

The virus is inactivated when exposed to a temperature of 55°C for 2 hours or 15°C for 30 minutes.  

Chemicals and Disinfectants

The virus is susceptible to 20% ether, chloroform, 1% formalin, and 2% phenol.  

Control and Prevention Measures:  

Controlling insect vectors and eliminating breeding environments.  

Vaccinating animals against Lumpy Skin Disease.  

Safe disposal of carcasses and infected hides, and disinfecting pens with sodium hydroxide solution.
