Bovine Tuberculosis

Bovine Tuberculosis is a contagious zoonotic disease, with cattle being the most susceptible. The disease can cause mastitis, posing a risk to milk consumers, and the infection may spread to any of the animal’s internal organs.

To ensure prevention, the following measures should be followed:

Conduct regular animal health screenings.

Dispose of the infected animal.

Isolate chronically emaciated animals until a diagnosis is made.

Certain factors create a favorable environment for the persistence of the pathogen and prolonged infection, potentially lasting for months and leading to death. These factors include:

Humidity and poor ventilation.

Overcrowded pens and failure to remove manure.

Lack of designated feed storage areas, which increases the risk of contamination from infected animal secretions.
