Biosecurity

Biosecurity is a set of strategies, tools, and preventive measures aimed at preventing and controlling the entry and transmission of disease-causing agents (viruses, fungi, or parasites) among animals. Establishing biosecurity programs and protocols within the animal wealth sector is considered a cornerstone in reducing the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases.

This, in turn, helps protect animal health and avoid the economic losses that may result from outbreaks and epidemics. On the other hand, biosecurity also plays a key role in protecting human health by preventing the transmission of zoonotic diseases that may spread through direct contact with animals or the consumption of animal products and meat.
