Contagious Pleuropneumonia  

Contagious Pleuropneumonia is a highly contagious bacterial disease that affects the respiratory system in goats and some types of wild ruminants. It causes pneumonia and can lead to death. Outbreaks tend to increase during winter due to reduced resistance in goats caused by cold weather.  

Symptoms  
Mild Cases

Respiratory symptoms such as difficulty breathing, nasal discharge, and saliva discharge from the mouth.  

Severe Cases  

Death before the appearance of clear symptoms such as fever.  

Prevention Measures:  

Adhering to regular vaccination schedules.  

During outbreaks, treating infected animals and vaccinating healthy ones.  

Ensuring pens are clean and properly disinfected.  

Immediate reporting of suspected cases.  

Antipyretics and antibiotics may be used according to the veterinarian’s instructions, with strict adherence to the prescription issued by him.
