Gumboro Disease  

Gumboro Disease is a highly virulent viral disease that affects poultry. It is considered one of the most severe epidemic diseases in poultry, infecting large numbers of both domesticated and wild birds. However, symptoms appear primarily in chickens. The virus belongs to the Birnaviridae family.  

Symptoms:  

Ruffled feathers.  

Incoordination and loss of balance.  

Watery white diarrhea.  

Decreased egg production.  

Prevention Measures:  

Consistent application of biosecurity protocols.  

Avoiding the rearing of multi-age flocks within the same farm.  

Implementing import regulations and controls for hatching eggs, live birds, and related products.  

Conducting epidemiological surveillance of any suspected or confirmed disease cases.
