Rift Valley Fever

Rift Valley Fever is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes and affects livestock (cattle, sheep, and goats). Heavy rainfall and flooding typically create favorable conditions for the reproduction of arthropod vectors that carry the virus.

To prevent the spread of Rift Valley Fever within herds, the following measures should be taken:

Vaccinate animals in affected areas.

Control insect vectors of the virus by applying integrated vector management practices.

Restrict animal movement from infected areas.
