The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) has secured Saudi Arabia Accreditation for Rabies Control Program as culmination of its continuous efforts in fulfilling all the approved technical standard to enhance prevention and control against animal diseases. This accreditation is considered as a pioneering step regionally in control programs accreditation at the level of Organisation of animal diseases. This comes during the 93rd General Session of the World Assembly held in the French capital Paris; in the presence of Member Countries and International Organisations that are cconcerned with animal health. The delegates who have represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to receive the accreditation Certificate are Dr. Sanad Al Harbi, advisor in the Animal Health Sector, Mr. Naif Al Shamari, Executive Office General Director, and Dr. Baker Al Traif, Animal Health Risk Management General Director; in Weqaa Center. This accreditation has been obtained as a result of overall assessment of the technical program prepared by Weqaa Center that includes an integrated system of preventative and control procedures to control rabies transmitted by dogs; in accordance with the requirements and international standards approved by the Organisation. Actually, this achievement reflects the commitment of the Kingdom to enhance the animal health system and to apply the best global practices in the field of prevention and control of zoonotic diseases between human and animals; contributing to protect the public health and control transmission of rabies to human. The accreditation emphasizes the position of the Kingdom regionally and internationally in the field of animal health and support its efforts in adopting the approach of " One Health" which links between human health, animal and environment. In addition, to enhance the regional coordination in controlling the transboundary animal diseases and raising the classification level of the Kingdom in the field of controlling the disease according to the international standard.
